In my article The Worldview Narrative, I described how the media that you consume shapes your view of the world:
Your worldview is shaped by a narrative. This narrative comes from multiple sources, most notably the various forms of media that you invest your time and interest in daily.
From the news of the mainstream media to the news of the alternative media, from magazines to blogs, the information on which your attention is focused contributes to a story-like narrative that is shaped and played out within the mental space of your mind.
These narratives, particularly those delivered by the mainstream media, intend to shape your views and have a direct effect on the way that you think.
Recently, I have come across pictures of a collection of tweets that give an excellent example of this worldview manipulation with regards to recent events.
While some of these are politically motivated, the most common theme amongst them is that of using fear as a means of manipulating perceptions to fall in line with the agenda driven by the global elites.
People I know quite well are locked into the MSM narrative flow. These people are intelligent and otherwise discerning. I also know a number of people who, to some degree or another, feel the system is lying to us. I personally feel we’re being lied to across all fronts. Truth only happens when it suits their purpose.
I sometimes wonder what makes some people so easily manipulated by the MSM, and others ready and open to questioning the authorities and “experts”. I myself haven’t been able to put my finger on it. Some might say it’s the sources of information one is exposed to and how much.
If all one did was watch television and read mainstream articles, that might guarantee being locked into their narratives. However, I think it’s more than that. Something to do with worldviews being threatened. Something along the lines of learning that “there is no Santa Clause”. Some people can take that in stride. For others it scares the bejesus out of them.
I think we are simply conditioned to be mentally subservient to authority figures. Even so, you would think that some people might question their reality a little more, but then again they would need to question their belief systems which would inarguably take them out of their comfort zones.
